Gurudongmar Lake

One of the most beautiful, pristine lakes in Sikkim, Gurudongmar lake sits in close proximity to the Tibetan and Chinese border in the north. Nested amidst the mountains at 5,183 meters, the freezing alpine lake is amongst the major sources of the river Teesta. The lake takes its name after the eminent guru Padmasambhava, who is believed to have traversed this region during his visit to Tibet.


Rumtek Monastery

One of the most famous monasteries in Sikkim, the Rumtek Monastery is known for its ideal site and location with scenic vantage points. Located 23 Km from the capital city of Gangtok, the Rumtek Monastery in Sikkim offers breathtaking views of the mountains along with beautiful greeneries in the surroundings. From the main gate at the base, it requires about half a km of walk to reach the main gompa. One of the largest monasteries in Sikkim, Rumtek belongs to the Kargyu sect and was built by Gyalwa Karmapa in the 1960s.


Goechala Trek

One of the biggest highlights of the Goechala trek is the sunrise scene on the Kanchenjunga range. Even though trekkers are not allowed to the actual Goecha Pass, the view from ViewPoint 1 and Dzongri is worth an arm and a leg!
